CHANGELOG
Changelog
The main changes in each Tai-IoT toolkit release, newest first. The contents, test records and system requirements of each release are in the release notes.
0.3.7 trial
Released 5 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
The development board part works with your own projects, the example becomes Hello World, and the serial port is read continuously once connected.
- Your own projects: a
taiiot.jsonat the project root names the board, or a board of your own’s chip, debug probe and serial console; ESP-IDF projects for the ESP32-S3 and CMake projects for the two Arm boards are then cross-compiled, flashed and their serial output read. The VS Code extension can write the file for an existing project. - Hello World example: new projects come from Hello World; the temperature sampling example is no longer included.
- Continuous serial reading: the extension’s serial terminal shows the output live and sends commands to the device; the AI can look at the output at any time, reset the board and turn crash addresses into source lines. The engineering tools grow from 7 to 13.
- New commands: flash the project, restart the board and check its output, choose the project’s debug probe, and choose the project’s SDKs and tools.
- SDK components and versions:
taiiot.jsoncan list optional SDK components, which installation adds, and pin SDK and tool versions. - Stricter checks: whether a build is current depends on every file in the project and on the SDK and tools actually installed; two projects never use the same serial port at once.
0.3.6 trial
Released 4 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Strengthens the checks around building, flashing and read-back.
- Checks the project service: build, flash and read-back requests from the extension are checked again by the project service before they run; a service that has restarted or belongs to another project does not run them.
- Cancel stops the work: cancelling, or a timeout, stops the compiler and its child processes; building, flashing and read-back never run at the same time for one project.
- Read-back time: the serial read-back time follows the compiled sampling period.
- Consistent ESP32-S3 configuration: editing
sdkconfigduring a build discards that build; builds stay incremental while the configuration is unchanged.
0.3.5 trial
Released 3 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Improves the walkthrough, the build command and opening existing projects.
- Completed by results: the walkthrough becomes five steps (SDKs, project, build, model, AI task), each marked complete by its actual result.
- Build the open project: starts the chosen project’s service first and can be cancelled while starting and waiting.
- Existing projects: a new command opens an existing board project; when its
.vscode/mcp.jsonalready registers the same service, the extension explains how to hand it over.
0.3.4 trial
Released 2 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Makes the first use of the VS Code extension smoother.
- Walkthrough: a new getting-started walkthrough with one button per step.
- One continuous flow: when the chosen board’s SDK is missing, creating a project installs it first and then carries on.
- Build the open project: a new command builds the open project without the AI chat.
0.3.3 trial
Released 2 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Makes sure the board is flashed with exactly the latest build.
- Every file checked: each file to be written to the board is recorded with its SHA-256 at build time and checked before flashing.
- ESP32-S3 configuration: whether a build is current also depends on the
sdkconfigactually used.
0.3.2 trial
Released 2 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Improves the project checks and project creation.
- Linked folders: projects opened through symbolic links, Windows junctions or subst drives are checked by their real folder.
- Git version: new projects use only commands Git has had since 2.25.
0.3.1 trial
Released 2 November 2026 · Toolkit and VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Strengthens the checks before flashing and before a new project is created.
- Target project checked: before flashing, the answering project service must belong to the chosen project, board and serial port.
- Debug probe identified: the NUCLEO-H723ZG and AT-START-F413 select their debug probe by the USB serial number the serial port reports.
- Always confirmed: flashing and installing SDKs run only after confirmation.
- Git check: Git is checked before SDKs are installed, and an unusable Git leaves no half-made project.
0.3.0 trial
Released 2 November 2026 · First VS Code extension for Windows and Linux
Adds the Tai-IoT VS Code extension.
- Development in VS Code: install the board SDKs and tools, create projects, cross-compile, flash and read back serial output, with your own model service in the AI chat.
- Python bundled: the extension bundles its Python runtime, so no Python installation is needed.
- Sent on application: the extension package for the operating system chosen on the application is emailed with the toolkit.
- Terms and third-party software: a third-party software list is included, and the trial terms are updated to the 2 November 2026 version.
0.2.1 trial
Released 31 October 2026 · Toolkit
Improves the installation and checks of the ESP-IDF tools in the development board example.
- Installing the ESP-IDF tools: the toolkit’s own Python installs ESP-IDF’s compiler, CMake, Ninja and Python environment.
- Installation folder:
tools.jsoncan name the folder for the ESP-IDF tools, with no system environment variables. - Checks and errors: they name what is missing and the command that installs it.
0.2.0 trial
Released 31 October 2026 · Toolkit
Adds the development board example and online applications.
- Development board example: example projects for the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1, NUCLEO-H723ZG and AT-START-F413, cross-compiled into real firmware with the vendors’ official SDKs.
- Board tools: read the project, change parameters, cross-compile, flash, read back and check the serial output, and show the Git diff.
- Guides: Linux, Windows and VS Code guides are included.
- Online applications: after the trial terms are accepted, the download links are emailed automatically.
- Tool annotations: the host example’s tools state which operations only read and which change the project.
0.1.1 trial
Released 15 October 2026 · Toolkit
Adds an English guide and the final trial terms.
- English guide: it matches the Chinese guide paragraph by paragraph, with the same commands.
- Trial terms: the final trial terms are included, with a 90-day trial period.
0.1.0 trial
Released 15 October 2026 · Toolkit · first release
The first trial release.
- Engineering tool server: a tool server with 6 tools that runs on your computer, and a temperature acquisition C example project: read, change, build, run simulated tests and review the diff.
- Diagnostics and automatic demo: checks the environment; the automatic demo needs no AI account.
- Client configuration: generates the configuration that connects an AI client, without changing personal settings.
